May 30th, Memorial Day
“Come Monday It’ll be all right”
Memorial Day musings;
The TV today is flush with movies about war heroes. I watch them in horror! I cannot believe that the human race accepts as normal the ravages of war. I have only seen and heard these events in movies and on news reports. I never had to personally experience war. I’ve no idea how I would have responded to battle. But watching “Band of Brothers” today broke my heart and filled me with appreciation for all of those guys who put themselves on the front lines. The ones who came home and the ones who never came back. Thank you, guys! Please be at peace, both living and lost.
Workout report-
Another day of work, but in the outside pool this time. Our outside pool at FSML is very large. And since today it was cloudy, I had to pool entirely to myself. I spent 50 minutes in the water swimming and running. I’m actually feeling pretty strong aerobically, but am yet yet to put any impact on my left foot. I am waiting for my Thursday appointment at the Rothman Institute. My foot might be totally pain-free by that time. That is okay though. I like the advice I read in a recent article that I mentioned in a previous post that one should wait for 7 days of no pain before resuming activity. I think that is the wisest and safest course. As long as I am able to stay aerobically sound by working in the pool, I don’t think it will affect my fitness that much. All of this swimming is making me think once again about tryin a triathlon one time. But that is for a future moment, right now I need to get back to a running routine as soon as possible.
