Last night during a phone call with Rich Refi, among other things, I asked him for advice about how to prepare for my upcoming 5K after feeling totally blown out over the weekend. He suggested that I run a 5k today at comfortable pace. I did just that. I pre-heated my thighs, walked for 10 minutes and then ran 3.1 miles. The first mile was into a pretty strong wind on the beach, but I persevered. Miles two and three got easier as I went along. Finishing with the wind at my back, I ran 10:03 for the final mile in what thoroughbred horse trainers would call “breezing”. It was very encouraging.
